clau has essentially summed up my perfect guy friend.

boyfriend would be someone ive known for years, weve been friends for so long we cant imagine anything else, we know each other, we can be wildly passionate snogging, have deep conversations, just having fun doing something stupid, or just leave each other alone for a couple weeks with no problems. no guilt, no shoulds, no have-tos, just being together. not that i dont like guys who arent like that...like paul, for example. but that would be perfect. like carl, or jimmy, if i liked either of them like that.

something i'd really have to have in any kind of boyfriend, for more than a few weeks, is that they love me as much as i love them. i dont want to be giving more love than im getting, or getting more than i give.

perfect guy friend...
definitely has to be sweet. very mature (emotionally, physically, mentally). doesn't try to be badass. doesn't constantly talk about girls. i talk to him every night on the phone; we can vent about school/teachers/friends to each other. i answer his questions about the mystery of girls when he's had a bad break-up or has been dissed by a crush. he does the same for me.
he's the kind of guy who i buy random gifts for (and vice-versa) just because that thing reminds me so much of him.
we go out to lunch a lot just to talk in person.
i can take him to formal or prom, just as a friend, and there isn't any sexual tension or anything the whole night.
we both know we like each other a little more than just friends, but we wouldn't dare to go out: it would ruin our perfect friendship.

sigh. this is making me depressed. i would so much love to have a guy friend like this. i've known a bunch of guys for brief periods of time that i know, if our contact had continued, would be just like this.
